2000 W/230k??

I am looking at getting a 2000 Tacoma Xtra cab TRD off road but it has 230k miles on it. Should i be super worried? Its at a good price of $3500 should i get it or just pass it up? I know there are going to be no maintenance records available.

 

Sounds like an ok buy... But I'd look for something with about 50k less miles so you can enjoy it for a while...

 

Yea i was afraid that you would say that. I have about 6k im willing to spend and that is the only thing i can find within reason. Everything else is a big price or alot of miles

Drive train parts I've got roughly $930.00 and suspension parts I've got roughly $622.00. So for another $1552.00 +/- I now feel I have a good running dependable truck.
Even at $5500-$6000 for a lower milage truck I would assume some of the things would still need to be repaired/replaced the same as what I have done.

Very good points noted here... I mean if 6k is all you have and you need one - go for it I guess. But just get it checked out by a mechanic, get an inspection, and have it emissions tested (if required) before you buy.

 

Forgot to mention, also depends on overall condition of the truck. Paint/body, interior, tires, ect. I found a truck listed for $5,000 but went to look at it and it ended up being a pile of crap with a bent frame. Take a buddy that knows these trucks a little and get a second eye on it.

 

Yeah dad's been a mechanic for around 40 years. i was just wondering about the value of the truck. Doesnt matter now the guy sold it out from under me. Thanks fellas

It is a hunt i tell you that. I can buy whatever thats not the question. i just hate payments. I wont use the truck as a dd because i drive a company truck for everything. i just want a 4x4 i can toss the atv in and go places. I just sold my 01 Silverado because it sat in the driveway for three years without being started.
