Washing my 03 Tacoma today, I realized there is a line of very slight bubbling along the top of the rocker panel on both sides of the truck. Is this normal for a 1st gen paint job?

Are you sure it isn't an anti-chip coating? I know they use it on 2nd gens...not sure when they started though.

Wait the bubbling is an antichip coating? Now that you said it.. the patch between the rear wheel well and the cab has a slight yellow tint to it.. so the coating's edge causes bubbling? THe coating definitely did not help this area as there is a lot of chipping.

yes...theres a strip that runs along the bottom of the truck body (approx 6-8" wide) that is "bubbled" or "orange peel" supposedly to help preserve the paint
