Be sure to keep us updated. Should be a fun project! If for some odd reason I ever run across a CHEAP donor I may even try that on my 08.

Hey what's the status on this? This sounds very interesting... and I wish you luck. If you do it correctly would probably one of the most badass mods I've seen. But unfortunately I would say the same about selling it and buying another 4 x 4, just IMHO

Hope you have a well equipped garage and some good help.

I would have AT LEAST bought a wrecked 4X4 donor tacoma for parts. Then you would have had EVERYTHING you would need.

You will end up having way more in it than you could have sold your Prerunner and bought a 4X4 for.

AND WAY MORE than you can sell it for. Better plan on keeping it.

    Good Luck.

    Post Pics.

OMG NO!!!!!!..... This place is local to us. I've been over there. They are WAY over priced for used parts. They advertise all the time and usually want like 90% + of retail. Its a pretty shady place. I went over there to get a new shifter trim piece for my truck. They tried to sell me a beat up POS for like %80 of retail.

    find another place... Please..

Don't do it! Like other people stated here. This is not a good idea. This will no way be factory when your done, you may kill the resale and I bet you are going to constantly have little annoying problems to deal with. The smart thing to do is sell the Prerunner and buy a 4x4. Your already $2k plus into it and you didn't even start yet. Don't take offense, Just trying to save someone a headache.

It depends on what hes doing. If hes planing on a SAS with an aftermarket T-case then this is no harder a way to go then with a 4x4. check out www.inchwormgear.com they make a T-case/adapter to bolt up to the first gen prerunner. the rest is custom fab from there.

either you do it or dont bro but its not gunna look stock lol.

It will be custom, if you go with it id say document everything because i have yet to see a build like this in detail and built all the way threw. Kind alike a pioneer in my eyes. lol

I also feel the same with my truck but at the same time i have very low miles and would be doing a motor swap to something bigger like a v6.

Do you have experience with this kind of a build before? Seems like its gunna take alot longer then acouple of days haha. Not that its a bad thing but little things take the longest to complete.

good luck and lets see some pics!!!!!!!!!!!

i remeber when i had a Honda Civic and i bought a motor to do an engine swap. i spent way way way more than i thought i would and it took a week longer than i thought too. i was 23 years old at the time but i didnt give up and ended up with a really fast car (that got me lots of tickets). good luck brutha and i hope it works out for you.

Have fun with. It will probably cost you more that you planned on like everyone else said. If it turns out good then I'm sure you'll be more than happy with yourself.
