I had them in my 96 but the switch went out and I had to replace them with the 2 speed, I want to go back because the with the new one the wipers ether move too fast or to slow.

Question for anyone still monitoring this post; I just changed my 2 speed wiper switch for a new "OEM" intermittent switch, #DS1886. The 20 amp wiper fuse will immediately blow, but the old switch will work fine after re-installing and replacing fuse. Any thoughts on this? My assumption is a defective switch.

i took the hubcaps off and someone else bent the front bumper for me.
I was surprised to find a lack of intermittent wipers too.

Thanks for this thread. I just ordered this new OEM switch on EBay for $50

    https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/122033178622

Apparently it’s a corolla part too.

Next up... Cruise Control but the kit PT474-35980 is discontinued...

Very interesting. Please report back on how it works, so I can do this mod as well.

My 03 SR5 has the intermittent wipers, maybe it comes with the SR5 option?
I have an extra wiper stalk if someone wants to try it? Would trade for some decent craft beer. :)

I just did this mod on my 1st gen. I got mine out of a 2001 prius. I paid $25 at a junkyard. 1998-2002 corollas will work as well.
Keep in mind the 4runner wiper stalk might have a rear window wiper, so one out of a sedan might actually be better.

Hey Kenlinak, I'm having a silmmilar issue with my 01 taco sr5 blowing 20-amp wiper fuse blows soon as they go in. i checked the wiring between the switch and fuse and also between the fuse between the fuse and wiper motor and all is good. Did changing your wiper switch seem to fix the problem? Thanks for your response.

I can confirm all of the above. I have a 2000 without tilt steering and this part number, 84652-04090, worked for me. I got mine off of eBay for $45. I had an alert set up for 6 months waiting for one to be listed for a reasonable price.
