Bumpers and Emblems and Grilles, Oh My

I've got issues with my bumper and grille. I don't like the chrome grille, the front bumper and filler are peeling, and the rear bumper is tarnished. I'm going to need some painting but I'm trying to decide what to do.

At least around here, there are a million white trucks and the black grille surround, to me, would make it look like a base work truck. So, I've put together some PhotoChops with other options. Really interested in your feedback.

Let me know what you think would look best. And, oh, I guess I need to paint the rear bumper white or black as well.

Bedline the bumpers (in black). Or do the back and get an ARB up front D).
Black out the grille, not white. I'm a fan of the black.

Option 2 or 3, but make sure you black out the Toyota emblem.

 

Yeeeah... That looks sick! Especially with the black crawler rims. Nice job on that.

I would guess that it's something like Hurculiner(sp?) that you just roll on after you tape off the other parts. Maybe like..3 coats?

I think he used that duplicolor spray on stuff.

Nope it's not Herculiner or Duplicolor. Its just Rustoleum truck bed coating from Walmart. I don't know about prep work on the chrome bumpers but since mine were painted I took a 3M paint stripping wheel and took them down to bare metal, wiped down with alcohol, and sprayed until I used the whole can. How's that stuff holding up on your bumpers??

Just wondering how it would hold up as a BEDLINER as it was made for.

I would rather spray it on than roll it on.

How many cans do you think it would take on a 6 ft. Taco bed?

 

It holds up really good on the bumpers. I don't worry about them chipping any more going through the woods with brush slapping at them. I think it would hold up fine used as a bedliner but only if you put on enough coats. I used a can for each bumper and wish I had put it on just a little thicker. I would think 6 or 7 cans at $7 apiece would do the job for a 6ft bed.

 

Thanks for the opinions and feedback, y'all. I think I'll try the bedliner paint for the front and rear bumpers (for durability) and white body match the surround. If it doesn't look right I can always sand and repaint it black. Either way, the chrome is going.

May not get to it for a few weeks. I work in a college IT department and things are crazy until school gets out.
