Is it that the turn signal bulb outside is flashing but just the dash arrow isn't?

Not being sarcastic here, but the bulb for the turn indicator in the instrument cluster burnt out? I don't think they're LED but I may be wrong there, never looked at a 98.

This might help (sorry for linking to a different forum): http://www.customtacos.com/tech/index.php?article=77

Thx I appreciate any help I can get right now...This turn signal issue is driving me crazy...Haha...Anyways the turn signal bulb still works fine...It just flashes sometimes and sometimes doesn't...But I can still hear the relay flasher working...When the green arrow on the instrument panel lights up and flashes...The outside signal works...When it doesnt flash inside...The outside signal doesn't work...I hope this it this a little clearer...:D

sounds like a loose wire on the relay base....i would check the wiring....you either have a loose wire or a intermittent ground in the wiring loop to the bulbs

Yup, agree with crimsonred...my shot would be a bad ground somewhere in the circuit. Maybe turn the blinker on and gently wiggle wires under the dash, and where they come out of the turns and into the wiring harness. See if you can make it work / not work.

its 100% a ground thing, i did the same thing as OP, changed the relay and everything and it worked for a while, then i fucked around in the taillight for some extra reverse lights and it started again, while trying to put the taillight back in i wiggled some wires and it would occasionally work. I have no idea which wire is the ground one because there are like 7000 wires in there and I have a tow package so the trailer control wires are all shoved in there too, anyone have any ideas as to where the ground fault could be??

    p.s.
sorry to bring up an old thread but i need to fix this :/

    Don't be sorry at all...

I am going to switch out my flasher relay for the LED one, then one at a time, put in the LED signal lights, and if it works, awesome,
if not, ill put in a new fuse, then turn the LED around, and try again.

    Ill keep people posted

It's an 89 Toyota Pickup. I got some stuff done to it.. FJ axles going under it soon.
I agree with 99Taco..check your switch..the contacts may be dirty or super worn.

You can pick up a switch from a junkyard or pick n pull for $10-20
