Question about belt squealing

Aloha from the Big Island of Hawai'i. I'm the new owner of a used Tacoma. I've wanted one for quite some time now and last week, it finally happened. I bought the truck from a guy who took great care of it and haven't had any real problems since the purchase -- until today. When putting the truck in reverse and then accelerating, I get a quick squealing noise that goes away pretty quickly. This has happened twice inthe past day. All the belts have been relplaced in last two weeks. Any ideas or help for this new owner would be appreciated. Mahalo.

 

Try greasing all the u joints and slip yolk. There are grease zerks and you'll need a grease gun.

Maybe your belt tensioner is getting weak or did the belt get a little wet?

 

Thanks for the responses, I appreciate your thoughts and time. The truck has 60K miles on it. Do tensioner's go bad that quickly? I'm just bummed there's something wrong, hopefully it's not major. Will do what I can on my own and if that doesn't work, will have to take it in. Thanks again for the help. Will post again when I figure out what's going on.

 

I used to have a 99 ranger(i know not a toyota) and if I shifted gears sometimes because of the rpm change it would squeak with acceleration. I was always told thats what it was even by the dealer. I never changed it. I'd have someone look at it and give you a second opinion, but thats what it sounds like too me. Good luck and keep the updates coming.
