Diff. Fluid Question

How often should i change my diff. fluid and brake fluid. My diff fluid is still the original fluid and i just hit 95,000 on my 98 today. I have the 3.4l. I thought it was way overdue but my shop told me everything was looking good. This is a reputable shop too. What do you guys think?

 

Time for a total fluid change, including tranny and brake fluid. Also have you done the timing belt/water pump?

 

Holy crap, do you have a 5 speed? Diffs, tranny, and transfer every 30K, more often if hard duty/offroading a lot. If you have the 5-speed, I highly recommend the Redline MT90.

Reputable shop? Everything was looking good? They took a sample from your diffs? Or just checked to see if they were at the correct fluid level? Is there any sign of the fill plugs being removed? Those plugs are probabaly stuck on ther reeeaaaal good.

And like steve o says, T belt/water pump due at 90k. Standard for the 3.4.

You should also grease the driveline (u-joints and yokes).

 

Change all fluids ASAP

 

Some people change them annually...so your definitely due for a brake fluid change, tranny fluid change and gear oil. like scocar said above, i'd grease your driveshaft too
