I just fixed my problem with the tacoma.... the temperature sensor was telling my truck it was 25 degrees when it was 190 degrees... the reason it didn't start , the computer was telling the injectors more gas to warm it up... thats why it didnt start after it was warmed up.. now that i replaced my sensor.. starts up no problem... the temp sensor was about 69.00 and 1 hr labor.. i'm happy as hell..

Did you change the Radiator fluid since you owned the truck?

Is there a way to bypass or jump the temp. sensor to test this idea before buying a new one??

My Suzuki Motorcycle (2008 M50) was a difficult start when I used Hi test. With regular its fine and gets me 50 mpg. Wondering if it's the fuel or any of the additives?

I'm experiencing the same problem with my 1996 Tacoma 2.4L, except that it's just starting to happen, and not nearly as severe.

-The MAF sensor was replaced 174 miles ago.
-I added 1/3 can of Seafoam to the gas tank 62 miles ago. (first time doing this)
-I added 1/4 can of Seafoam to the oil about 300 miles ago.

The truck has 97406 miles on it. Before the above things were done, I never had trouble starting on a hot day. Whether this is coincidental or not I don't know...

No check engine codes. On my ScanGauge, the coolant temp was 190° thirty minutes after doing some errands. Within a minute or two, it fluctuated back and forth 184° and 186° so I think the sensor is good.

I have heard that Seafoam will start to foul your plugs I would check that.

I'll check that. But remembering it's a hot weather + hot engine problem, and only when starting, I tend to think it's something else.

start it and run till the motor is warm then unplug the temp sencer and stick a paper clip in both ends of the plug this will send a max hot signal to the computer telling it that the motor is warmed up if it start rite away most like the temp sencer is whats the problem

we had the same problem with a chevy truck exect it was winter and the temp sencer was saying the motor was a 150 F whn it was like 0 F so the truck never wanted to cold startwe unpluged the temp sencer and did not bypass witha paper clip and that sent a max cold signal to the computer it started up

same problem you are have except your bad sencer is telling your computer that the moter is cold when its warm and the case i just told you about the sencer was saying it was hot when it was cold

also this will not turn on a check ligth because the computer has nothing to check what the temp sencer is say to tell it if its wrong wichs is way it is not all ways found rite away
