Interior Light Switches

Hey guys, I am getting ready to install some exterior lights on my truck on a light bar and am curious where you guys mount the switches. Pics would be great! Thanks

 

Toyota OEM option interior lights put the switch on the center console behind the shifter (in my auto)

I really dont care for the default slots for the switches, as having an automatic, they really aren't that convenient to get to. I also dont care much for the sideways mounting.

I wanted to mount more than just 2 switches so I found myself a project box that had a 7"x2" face and cut slots in it for the switches. That size should fit pretty good under a 1 dim head unit in place of the shelf that most people put there. If using standard switches, that allows for 6 switches. (I did 2 for seat warmers, 1 fog lights, 1 driving lights, 1 winch power, 1 winch direction)

One thing I didn't think about when doing it is how to see the switches in the dark, so I think I might end up swapping my current switches out for ones with two lamps, or maybe just put in some smaller switches and put an led on top for its on/off indicator, or maybe some directional leds to light up the switches. Haven't decided yet.

The problem now is I want to add in two more switches for a few different things (top lights and bed lights, and maybe even some rock lights in the future) so I think I'll end up moving my seat warmer lights to the shifter molding, or as mentioned above, put in smaller switches so they can all fit.

Anyway, just throwing it out to give ya another idea if you dont want to use the two slots near the accessory plugs.

 

I put mine in the box for the garage door opener. It is well hidden there.

but I've added once switch where the TRD Diff locker is supposed to be, the switch black pulls out very easily and you can put one there.

and I've always thought that if you didn't use the ash tray, pull it out and bend a sheet of metal to fit into that spot and mount switches there.
