Hi everyone, I have a 98 toyota tacoma 4x4 4cyl extra cab 5spd manual. I have been having this issue long ago but I can still drive my truck.

This is how it started. I cannot shift to 1st or 2nd gear when I press the clutch from standstill. But I can shift to third gear without a problem, then to 2nd and 1st only if I still press the clutch. Once I let go the clutch then I cannot shift again, so I have to start the whole process over again. It would not engage in 1st and 2nd gear but I have to force it. Once i get the truck rolling, then shifting is smooth from 1st to 2nd to 3rd with no problem.

Also I installed a new clutch a year ago.

I don't want to spend money on a new transmission only if I have to. So any suggestion or help? Thank you very much.
