    Thinking of buying a cb radio but have a couple questions about it.
    1- How much do decent ones usually go for
    2- how hards the install
    3- recommended brands
    4- Who has pics of one in their 1st gen? Where do you mount it? :)

    i have a cobra i paid around 100 bucks or so for. the install was pretty easy

    hey Nerces.... get a race radio instead...

    you will find more desert wheelers running race frequencies more than CB...

    unless you are just lookin to talk to truckers...

    i run both radios in my truck, and its night and day difference between the two...

    Icom V8000 is a great radio... we use it in our race truck and all our chase trucks...

    going to be some serious coin though, but well worth it...

    one night, i was sitting in my garage at home in Glendale above GCC and was chatting with someone from TTORA who was driving up the 605 at the 91...

    I spent about $130 for radio, antenna and all the stuff to mount and connect eveything. check out http://www.rightchannelradios.com/. They'll have everything you'll need to get it done.

    I installed my Uniden where the ashtray is. If you do a search for "cb mounting" in the TW Audio & Video forum you'll find a number of threads with great information.

    yah, its even better when you tap into a repeater...

    last weekend on my trip to monterey, i was passing through santa barbara and listening to some guys in torrance...

    in the desert, its great when you can reach out to folks who are a good 20 to 30 miles away on the other side of the race course...

    install is cake... you just need to run the power wire to the battery, mount the radio somewhere in your center console, then run the antenna cable through the rubber grommet under your front seat to the bed and either hard mount your antenna in the bed somewhere, or do a magnet mount on the roof, or drill a hole in the roof and hard mount the antenna there...

    a cb, yes, a race radio like the V8000, no... you want to wire it directly to the battery as it draws some ampage...

    a cb radio is like 5 watts while a race radio is 75 watts...
