I have a 2004 2.7L Dcab prerunner that i want to achieve around 2.5 to 3in of lift.

Im thinking about the 5100's set at 2.5

but my main question is, can i use my stock springs? and if i did purchase the OME springs, what is my advantage with them? more lift or better ride?? what ride would be better? 5100 with stock springs, or 5100 with OME? will i get more lift with the OME's ?

    thank you for any help

Good luck finding 5100s. They are on national back-order til mid-late July. I ended up going w/ OME struts and 881s for the front of my truck. I need the parts now, I have an impending frame swap and want to be good to go when the frame hits.

ya I fugured. Ive looked everywhere for them but how much lift did you get with your setup? im looking for the easiest way to get 3in with good ride quality

obviously the best setup would be a coilover but i do not have that money. Im even thinking about a 2in body lift. with gap guards the BL looks fine. Ive had a body lift on my old s10. never had a problem

im thinking the 5100's all around, 2in BL, and maybe a 1in lift shackle if needed to level it out. what do you think with this setup?? it should be a good 4in of lift. I stay away from AAL's because they stiffen the ride way to much in the rear

This will be my first experience w/ OME. My friend has had their stuff on his TJ for about 7 years now, and it does ride pretty nice. I went w/ the 881s because I have a 4x4 xtra-cab w/ a 4cyl. Had I had the v6 I might of tried 882s. Originally I planned to get 5100s and run them at 2.5" w/ my stock springs. But, due to the backorder and my impending frame replacement I sought alternatives. My next choice was Bilstein HDs w/ the 881s, but decided just to go w/ the OME struts due to the ability to use trim packers to level the ride.

I considered the BL, but just did not feel like dealing with the install. Thought about shackles, but heard/read that they cause negative arch in your spring packs. Ended up going w/ the Wheeler's 1.5" aal and the Nitro 9000 shocks. Just gotta wait til my frame shows and everything will get installed.

When these are available again, will they be the gen 2's? I am only looking for .85" to level my truck.

A lift, some wheels, some tires, some performance, some cosmetic and then audio.
@ 2.5"...the front will sit higher then the stock rear so you would want a AAL but if you set it at .85"...your front may still be lower then the stock rear depending on your rear stock leaf springs condition.

    There are only 3 settings: 0", .85" or 2.5".

    That .85" is a 1" for 1st gen tacomas, which have 3 settings. The struts for 05+ have 4 settings - 0, 85, 1, 2.5

No, the rear shocks are for dampening only. The rear leafs are what does the suspending. Hence the need for either an shackles, aal or complete pack. You will need to buy new shocks accordingly.

You would need a spacer for 2" or if you went w/ a Bilstein 5100 adj coilover(has three settings w/ 2.5" being the tallest) or OME 881s/OME strut you would prob be around 2.5-2.75." The 5100s or the 881s are your best option for a better ride. For the rear you could do a 1" shackle if your leaf packs are not flattened or a 1.5" aal.

I went with the 881s/OME struts and a 1.5" aal because I wanted a better ride. Spacers compress the spring and give a rough ride, especially w/ your TRD coils.

That lift is exactly what I wanted and exactly what I got: OME 881's with 5100's set at no lift + Wheeler 5 packs(from the group buy). It netted me 2" in front and 1.5 in back. My setup is 01 v6 xtracab 4x4 TRD with 85k on the old shocks, springs, leafpacks

I am having new wheels mounted this weekend and will have pictures posted in the Wheelers group buy thread next week.

Depending on your budget you can do 5100's w/ a set of longer ToyTec AAL's to OME or Eibach coil springs w/ OME shocks or 5100's up front w/ a longer AAL to a rear leaf pack.
