AAL & Payload Capacity

I am sure that this info is out there somewhere, but why not go to source here at TacomaWorld!
Hauling some stone in my '02 ext cab SR5 and I got to thinking about the benefits of an aal. I know everybody does it to add height, but what does it do for payload capacity? Considering the axle capacity etc, what kind of gain can safely be made by adding a leaf?
Thanks all!

Yup.

There's a lot more to hauling & towing than just the suspension. There are lots & lots of other factors involved.

Say for instance.... Answer youself this one question:

Where does all that weight get transferred to?

To add to what Janster said, A new leaf pack, in some cases, can actually REDUCE payload capacity.

DO NOT EXCEED the capacity of your truck as its listed in the owners manual. It doesn't matter WHAT it'll mess up. It's a matter of doing it SAFELY and not harming you or anyone else on the roadway.

Depends on the leaf pack installed.

The axle seals will probably show it first, but the transmission, the gears and gear oil, brakes, frame and all the hangers are all at risk...
Like Jan said-It's not worth even trying.

So, hypothetically speaking here. If I......uh I mean my friend, wanted to improve his leaf pack for hauling (not meaning payload capacity, more of a stance thing) so the wheels don't look like they are completely tucked into the wheelwells, would he get an AAL or a 3 leaf progressive pack to replace the overload?
