Door lock broken on 97 taco

    Yeterday I locked the keys in the cab of my new (to me) 97 tacoma. The local federale' helped me get it open. At first he tried a slim jim to no avail. While doing this, I think he busted the lock somehow: the key no longer operates the lock on the driver door. When I got into the cab from the passenger side and pulled the interior door release, a small spring popped out.

    does anyone have any experience fixing the door locks? Any advice (other than not leaving your keys inside ;)) would be greatly appreciated.
