Alright, from my research I have learned that:

Yes, 2nd gen wheels will fit on a 1st gen. & they look damn good.

Yes, you can fit a 265/75/16 on a stock 1st gen w/ no lift.

QUESTION: if I put 2nd gen wheels on a stock (not lifted) 1st gen, with a 265/17/16 tire, will I need spacers to accommodate for the slight difference in offset?

Assuming I will need spacers, please specify whether I should get Lug Centric or Hub Centric. (would most likely end up with Spidertrax if I need them).

Thanks in advance for the help!!!

Just a simple observation. Why are you inquiring about putting 2nd gen on 1st gen Taco? If you have another Taco that is a 1st gen, my apologies (Your 2011 Taco is 2nd gen). Perhaps you are selling them to a 1st gen Taco owner?

Yup, I just bought a new 2011, but my fiance has a 2004. I already have new wheels/tires for my 2011 & want to put my stock OR rims on her 2004 along w/ some slightly larger tires. Part of the way I'm getting away w/ spending money on the new truck is by giving her the hand-me-down wheels and some new tires. That way she can get excited about her truck just like I'm excited about mine! Once we're done we'll have a sweet 1st & 2nd gen collection! I'll make sure to post pics of both when they are done.

My girl wants her 2004 Taco back now that she's been riding with me. I told her F that... you had a prerunner, anyway! LOL... I gotta get her into a 4x4 =)

Gotta have a 4x4! We're up in Alaska, and no self respecting individual drives a prerunner in Alaska, female or not. It's just not practical. I'm lucky in that I've got a girl who likes trucks and off-roading! Sounds like you're in the same spot. It's great to be able to share your enthusiasm (at least in part) with your girl.

I like the veiled agenda, nice! My wife drives an 07 WRX wagon, so other than swapping head units, I must get more creative for any new purchases. My latest tactic is telling her that my taco stock shocks are being recalled. So, uhm, just basically lying. :D

Oh Pffff... I'm in Orange County, Southern California... home of the over-beefed prerunner that never sees dirt... lmao! My girl currently drives a nice little souped up, blacked out toyota corolla. Her next car... won't be! =)
