I was checking voltage on my MAF to install a two wire chip. I checked voltage across the white/red stripe and brown/white and it made a spark and now it will not start.
With the key in the on position only the battery, oil and for a few seconds the air bag light will come on. The battery and oil stay on.

    Thanks for any help.

The battery is good, I didn't have any problems until I caused the the spark or short.
I don't know if the MAF is protected by a fuse. If it is, it is some how connected to most of my dash lights
I hope this explains it better. The engine turns over great, just won't start

I don't smell fuel, and I have checked most fuses but not all.
Could it be a relay? I damaged

Not even a check engine with the key in the on position, that always comes on, it normally looks like a red Christmas tree with all the lights that come on before you start engine or put it in the on position. Now just the battery and oil come on in the on position. The air bag light comes on for about 3 second.
Every thing seems to work except for starting and the indicator lights
The chip instruction said check voltage between the 5 wires at the MAF and look for a reading of 2 to 4 volts dc.WELL THE FIRST TWO WIRES I CHECKED SPARKED and now it won't run. I called the company and then they tell me which wires to connect to. A little to late. They had no suggestion for the problem.

It was the #15 a 20amp fuse. EFI 20 A:Multiport fuel injection system/sequential Multiport fuel injection system.
My dash lights started working and the Tacoma started up just fine.

Thanks for the help, it really needed it.

I may be a little too late on this post but when you checked voltage between the two wires........ you MAY have had the multimeter on "ohm" or "resistance" mode. I'm not saying you did, but IF you did that means that the meter was in a closed loop circuit and it actually transitioned one wires' voltage to the other wire causing that mishap. Make sure it is on the dc voltage seletion when you test for voltage. Just maybe ruling out what had happened, but again you may have done everything like you were supposed to. Just trying to help. Glad to hear you got it back working.

I think I am going to put the multimeter away before I cause more damage. How often do you have to change a 02 sensor or is it just something that goes out.
It will be cheaper to have it changed out at a mechanic shop than have them change a computer I bet because I used the wrong setting on the meter.

I sure hope mine will go that well, because I have no plans of getting rid of the truck. I'm sure I will run into a lot of the small things that I turn into big problems.
    Thanks for the input.
