crooked leaf springs

Put a three inch suspension lift on my 95 tacoma, which included an add a leaf. Now, on the drivers side the aal and the overlaod spring wont stay straight. Pounded them back into place once then tightened the u-bolts down again, but still those two springs (which are two bottom springs) went crooked. Anyone have experience with this?

 

How did the overload leaf stay straight when the truck was stock? On the 2nd gen there's a U-shaped stay on the overload leaf that will also keep the AAL aligned.

 

I never really took notice of the position of the overload spring before the lift, but I think it was straight. wish my model had the u-shaped stay. is it a big deal if they are all still overlapping but a couple are crooked?

 

Not a big deal, you could always have someone tac weld something like that on the overload.

 

The U-bolts should keep the leafs from becoming TOO crooked.

What did you torque the U-bolts to? Are the nuts factory-style or self-locking? The latter will require greater torque than specified in the service manual to achieve the same clamping force.
