Got me a 95!

Hi everyone! Got me a 95 taco today. Acc cab 5spd v6. Fun as hell to drive. Previous owner cut the front springs so that will be first thing to do. Haha.


Also I was wondering if 95 4runner parts will fit our trucks. Can't seem to find much info about it.

I have manual locks and widows. I'd like to try swap all that. 95 4runnner is available to me for cheap, will it bolt right up?

 

Was previous owner trying to lower it or stiffen the front suspension by cutting them?

Sounds like you have a 5 lug and unfortunately the 4runner stuff is totally different.

Your tacoma has longer doors and a somewhat different interior And 100% different suspension.

 

Like TacoMeElmo is asking... do you have the 2wd or 4wd? FWIW, I have a manual hub, manual trans, manual window rig. I really like the ability to fix anything that breaks with a wrench and some WD40. That being said, I haven't heard people complain about their electric windows doing funny things...

Yeah it's a 2wd. It's the sky blue color. Will post when I get home. Wanted to swap out some stuff from the runner, guess that might be outta the question.

 

I'd leave it alone since its a 2wd. Just buy a 4 runner if you want an off road rig. The easiest way to do an auto door lock setup is with aftermarket alarm and lock actuator kit. Now power windows get tricky if the doors are the same you could use 4runner regulators and switches and make you a harness but you could make a mess if you don't know what your doing. When you change the springs you need to do the ball joints and rod ends then have it aligned.

 

It depends what stuff you want to swap out. Motor parts will be the same assuming it's the same engine in both vehicles.

Didn't know they made the V6 in a 2wd truck without it being an S-Runner??

 

Everything manual on the truck. Gonna check out some alarm systems today. I would like keyless entry, and eventually pwr windows. Yeah I got a v6, and not a srunner

That's so strange, I had no idea the V6 came in 2wd. As far as swapping out the power locks and windows go, I would see if you can't find a Taco at the junkyard (goodluck) and take the door cards along with the window and lock motors.

 

The only thing is the harness connector may not be pre wired for power accessories so junkyard parts would be pointless without a harness that would work. Some companies have them pre wired gm for a fact doesn't and each year and option could have different pin locations ect.. leave it lowered paint it and boost it. because it's not 4x4 or a towing rig . The cut springs stiffen the front and could help with faster weight transfer and more traction as long as there aren't blocks in the rear to increase axle wrap. And the springs will also prevent body roll being stiffer

 

I tow my boat with mine lowered but I bought a kit and didn't cut my springs. Now I have 97 mazda b4000 650lb springs with a 1/4 coil cut for fitment issues to support the jz weight and transfer.

 

I will keep it dropped, just. Better setup. Probably a djm. Will do body work and paint. I'll show progress. Just installed my 12L7 yesterday. I don't think I will boost tho haha.

 

I also have a set of door poppers on the side, might just use that as my keyless entry. Well see.

I did djm 3/4 on mine. I did new bearings, seals, rod ends, ball joints, and shocks when I did mine since it was apart.

 

How much did that run u about? The djm kit is pretty cheap. How about all the other stuff? U like the 3/4 better then the 3/3?

 

Yea my rear was an inch higher than the factory. And what happened to mine eas a bearing locked up and broke the spindle. I think I jad 800 $ in it and the spindle was expensive. I thinkb ball joints were 40 each shock 40 $ each and tie rods maybe 50 $ each I think the kit was 350 $ and spindle was 250?
