I have a 97 4x4 Regular Cab Tacoma. I've had the truck for a little over a year and the whole time I've had it it's had a vibration. The vibration is in the steering wheel and it gets really bad at different times. Its gotten worse so I started trying to find the problem. I have

-Put new wheels and tires on it(balanced the old and new ones with beads and weights)
-new rack and pinion and tire rod ends( tie rod ends were busted and rack was leaking)
    -new u joints
-checked for warped axles and didnt find one

I have struts ordered because they are shot but I dont really see this being the problem.

Any more suggestions of things I could look at or try?

    Thanks

New rotors because it needed them and ive checked the wheel bearings by checking for play in the wheels. And I believe that it is a vibration in the front end because it shakes the steering wheel so bad. It also has a Toyota brush guard on it(its kinda flimsy), any chance that could be it?

does it have wheel spacers? my truck had some really cheap wheel spacers when I first got it and the steering wheel shook like hell while driving. check on that and if you have them, remove them and see if this helps.

i wouldnt think it would be ball joints. i had some real bad ball joints on my truck and the inner and outer tie rods were worn out and i didnt get a shake like the OP is saying.

Did the wheel weights fall off maybe?

His truck does NOT have a CENTER bearing.

Could be a bad ball joint, though.
    Suspension bushings?
    Steering damper?

I dont think the ball joints are wore out, I jacked the truck up and used a big bar to check for play in the ball joints. Like someone said I dont have a carrier bearing. I also do not have any wheel spacers. What suspension bushings would be wore out? And whats the steering damper?

Could be the bushings in your UCAs...mine are bad as we speak and i'm getting shakes too. I bought new bushings from SPC (Light Racing) and need to replace them.

Could be your steering rack bushings as well...you'll get some vibes if those are shot.
