1999 Tacoma 2.7 liter 4 cylinder

    Hey guys, I'm new to this forum and have been wondering if there are ways that I can improve gas mileage on my 2.7 liter 4 cylinder Tacoma. Right now its not very impressive. The best mileage I've ever gotten was around 18 mpg but I typically only get 16 mpg. And that's living in a small town and a lot of my driving is going 50 mph or more. I've had my Tacoma for 2.5 years and never really thought anything of it just kind of figured that's the best she'll get but I guess it's finally gotten to me so I figured I'd ask. I haven't done any mods to her so please help me out here. What do you guys typically get for mpg? Thanks!

    My 98 typically got 18-23. It fluctuated at times. The best thing to improve MPG is driving habits. Second, I would seafoam the intake and add some to the gas. Also, a plug change can help to increase MPG just don't expect huge gains there. Use OEM (Denso I think) plugs.

    You could go with a CAI but you won't see major gains in the MPG department, maybe a gallon or two. The key to MPG is routine maintenance and driving habits.
