I have searched the boards for a while on this topic. A few weeks ago my airbag light came on. I checked pretty much everything I could to make sure all connections are connected. I don't want to pay for the dealership to run the computer on it. My horn still works so I wasn't sure if it could still be the clock spring. I also read about a seatbelt retractor that could be bad? I cannot find much on that topic. Any help would be appreciated. I have an 04 Tacoma by the way

You mentioned you checked the connections. .. did you check the ones going to the SRS/airbag computer? My light taunted me for years, couldn't figure it out after running the diagnostic checks. I read once on this forum that someone wiggled the wires running tothe computer and That's What I did...it's been a month and no light!

The computer is located in the center console. .. at the very bottom. I've got a 1st gen taco... the computer is located behind the area where the two lower 12v outlets are. There's 4 snap in plastic bolts that you'll have to pop out. I also removed the ashtray to take out the screw behind it. (I'm attaching pics to help)

Just remember to disconnect your battery before messing with the computer. You should find a small box with 3 yellow plastic encased wires. Those are the ones you'll have to check and see if there's a short or disconnect.... again, for me it was solved by wiggling them to make sure the connection was tight.

I checked all connections but still had the light. Ordered new clock spring and the damn thing is still on. I guess I will have to take it to the dealer. Does anyone know about the drivers side seatbelt retractor? I hate to pay to get this thing diagnosed...the Toyota dealer here blows.

Did you check the condition of the passenger airbag on/off switch? Mine was broke from having a CD player installed. Also, check the FSM for the procedure for running SRS codes.
