v6 exhaust an upgrade on 4 cyl as in catback?

Does a v6 exhaust have bigger diameter tubing than 4 cylinders? If so can it be used for performance gains similar to a catback system with mandrel bent tubing?

 

I'm running headers and a custom 2.5" cat back dump exhaust on my 2.4L. It pretty responsive and sounds really clean. No backfires or that gurgle sound.

 

What i am asking is can the v-6(3.4l) exhaust be used on the 2.7l or 2.4l to improve performance?

 

Cat backs in general aren't going to give you any kind of noticeable performance gain so I doubt this would make any difference.

 

It will be less of a headache to do a custom muffler than muffler swap. I doubt the exhaust from the v6 will bolt up to the 4 cylinder model. V6 has a y- pipe and different placement of the cats. Performance wise it isn't worth your time. If you want some cheap noticeable power, have a flowmaster/magnaflow welded in.
