i was running an 2004 tacoma V6, 5 speed, 4x4, TRD. and i got in to a wreck. thetruck is totaled because the frame and cab were twisted. and i was jus wondering if anyone had heard of or saw a tacoma 5VZ put into a 1989 4x4 toyota pickup. the 89 has a 3VZ engine and 5 speed. if i were to take this project on i would also do a SAS on the 89. is this going to be worth the time and effort? or should i jus find me another tacoma?

its possible but lots o work. might have to swap tranny along with it if the '04 is stick. if not then its gonna be harder to match 3vz trans to 5vz. i think.

Since they're both VZ-series engines, the 3VZ to 5VZ swap is relatively popular (especially on 4Runners). You can find more info at Tacoma Territory and / or YotaTech.
