My truck got hit last night. I was driving down a hill with a little curve to it and a guy was coming up the hill and failed to stay in his lane because he was looking down. No one was hurt but my truck took most of the beating. The damage doesn't seem that bad but the guy at the toyota collision center who we took it to says there is a good chance they will total it. Ill know in the next few days what is going to happen with it when the insurance calls.

If its totaled, it looks like ill be looking at something new. Probably $10k to $15k range. But I have no idea what i would want. Ill just have to wait and see if they are going to fix it. Also if its totaled, Im going to strip the parts off that i can and sell them.

And if they decide to fix it, ive heard it can take up to two months

^ Same type of damage happened to me. 12k to be exact.. They didn't total mine thankfully and insurance covered every bit because it was his fault. Good luck!!!

oh and i got my truck back in 8 days... so hopefully if they don't total it you get it to a good shop ;)

it really sucks that it happened, but it really doesn't look that bad. imo
did it tear the upper and lower control arm mounts or just the arms themselves?
    did the airbags go off?

hmmm. thats a tough one. doesnt seem like it would have frame damage but you never know. check the gaps on your other panels. might have shifted/tweaked the cab/engine bay

Air bags didnt go off. The guy at the shop said it was probably because of the angle I was hit at.

The lower control arm was still on but just barley. And the upper arm was clean off.

yeah it really depends man, hopefully the shop its at has a good understanding of whats damaged
when i totalled my 07 it wasn't because the parts were too expensive to replace, but because they couldn't find the parts to correctly repair it. but thankfully our trucks hold their value so well that i was able to get a new one with no money out of pocket, actually got a check for the difference.keep in mind it was only about 1 1/2 years old and i bought it no money down.
so good luck with whatever happens

be sure you get a another quote for the damage as well, I was in an accident a couple years ago where my Ranger was deemed as totaled. I got a check for more than if I sold the truck so I was happy. Just be sure you do your research cause insurance is always going to lowball you.

Look where the fender meets the pillar, it's tweaked to hell, ehich means that roofline and other side of the truck is probably tweaked as well.

Dude, you are ok, that is what is most important. Lots of new trucks out there. So prepare to be in the best seat in the house a 2010 or 2011 purchaser!

I am glad no one got hurt.

glad you are okay... nows the time to start checking your best estimate for Blue Book on your truck... so you know what you find is fair for a check from insurance. :)
