    Hey Fellas,

So I am making a new grill, similar to the Satoshi grille (grillcraft). I would rather make one myself, than buy one.

But what makes that style called a Satoshi? Is that just a name, or is there reasoning behind it?

    Cheers

Search the DIY Satoshi. You can put any kind of mesh you want in the grill. Look at www.customcargrilles.com and you'll find some options.

It's just a [sur]name (of the first guy who made one for his 4Runner).

A true 'Satoshi Mod' involves a mesh grille insert and an old school 'T O Y O T A' emblem to emulate the look of a classic FJ grille.

The Satoshi Mod originated some years ago on 4Runners, and is well-documented on YotaTech. Satoshi Miura was the originator of the mod, and it was named in his honor.

The classic Satoshi 4Runner writeup can be found at:

    http://www.4runners.org/writeups/satoshi/index.html

As the years passed, the term 'Satoshi' came to be widely (mis-)used to refer to any mesh grille replacement.
