i picked up set of projectors from http://www.theretrofitsource.com and these are hands down better than any drop in kit. no cutting is necessary as long as you have a H4 bulb. here are some pics from my retro. the light output was taking from another member of hidplanet.com, but my light output is identical

it needed a slight adjustment on the driver side only. it can only rotate a few degrees in either direction. i'll try to get more output pics later when i'm not working

the output pics are not from my truck, but that is exactly how mine look. just want that as a disclaimer. i haven't had any time to get pics of my own up yet.

T4daddy, you are going to hate that kit over time. It might be slightly better than stock, but the cut off is horrible and is not what you usually see (the step).

Yeah, already wishing I had waited, but wasn't sure I had the time to do a full retro and now I'm reading the minis are a drop in (no cutting, fitting). I know I saw a kit from TRS that was, projectors, shrouds and D2S bulbs and adapter harness to use with your own ballast. Thats what I want, can't find the kit offered anywhere on there site. My new factory headlights came today, I may just post the G3s for sell for a deal to someone and go all out.

just got into a long ass debate about which projector is better. the g3 or the morimoto. so the choice is up to you in the end. i say give them a try first, then you can make your own choice. i have made mine

a person on customtacos. he is quite sure that the g3 is a much better set up. we all have our opinions i guess

here are some output shots on mine. you can kinda see some hot spots on the wall, but they are practically invisible while driving. you can judge how "bad" these really are

He's way off. The G3 projectors need to be modified if you want the step cutoff like that. He has probably never had the Morimoto minis. I thought they were the shit, too. Until the angel eyes started looking lame, and the sorry excuse for a solenoid started failing and getting stuck. On top of that, good luck finding an H1 replacement bulb that has the notch.

So, those beam shots are minis not G3s with modded cut offs right?

the bulbs. a d2s has better quality control than an h1 bulb. the h1 is a rebased hid bulb. plus the mini h1 projectors had issues with the cutoff, which are fixed now i believe. i just wanted to be able to run a real bulb and be able to switch to philips bulbs at a later date.
