Nope, don't have to go to Toyota when the day comes. I saved this thread for reference when it's finally time to change out transmission fluids.

Per the schedule at toyotaownersonline.com it's 60,000 mile interval for hard duty and 100000+ for normal driving.

2009 + Tacomas with the TRD OffRoad package have A-TRAC. If you do not have the TRD Offroad package, you still have TRAC in 4WD high-range. In 4WD low-range you have open differentials. It's kind of silly, as 4Hi with TRAC will almost always be more capable in low-traction situations than 4Lo with open diffs.

Very cool video, thanks for sharing!
I guess as an 08 owner, I'm SOL.
    Seems like a good system.

    Yes.

Royal Purple is awesome stuff (it's what I use in my engines), but it's pretty damn expensive. Since you're going to be changing everything so often, you may want to consider Mobil 1. It's also an excellent oil and can often be found on special significantly cheaper than RP. You might want to especially consider this as RP 75-90 gear oil is about $20 a quart...meaning it'll run you about $180 to change the diffs and t-case if you go with that...Mobil 1 will be about half that...I run Mobil 1 in my diffs/t-case.

Oh awesome. yeah that will most certainly help out a lot, i plan on changing my diff oil and transfer case oil every 15k-20k miles. Mobil 1 75-90 sythentic? And both differentials take 3 quarts? How many quarts for the transfer case?

I don't know the exact # for each, but I recall both diffs being 3.something and the t-case being 2.something. I know I used just under 9 quarts total for all 3.

Just follow the procedure for diff oil change and when filling, fill til some excess gear oil starts seeping out of the fill hole. Then cap it off. You really can't "overfill" a diff or t-case like you can an engine. Even if you did, the only consequence would be a little loss of power and mileage from the gears having to slosh through the extra oil. Nothing would explode.
