Respect. The highest I've been is about 90' in a bucket, even that was enough for me.

I would do it without the tool bag. I love heights. I think going down would be the hard part.

Fuck everything about that. Ever since I started climbing I don't feel safe taking a stepladder up to the roof without a rope.

Just speculating, but my climbing helmet has saved me grief mostly by preventing me from hitting my head when I stand up into the bottom of a rock formation. Perhaps these tower workers are relatively prone to hitting their heads as well? Lotta crossbars up there...

Ok, what I got out of the video... He took an elevator to 1600 feet. Free climbed 168 feet.

Yes, hard hats are worn during work. I've done 600' (no elevator) and the top of the guyed tower swung about 2 feet in any direction. Peronally I climb with a back pack for tools, pulling one behind you is just asking for trouble especially if you're free climbing.

I'd do it in a heartbeat, just would tie off every chance I got. Fuck the easy bullshit and making things faster. Climb 600 feet and when you get to the top your arms and legs are tired, sorry if I don't want to rely on them as my safety.

Coast Guard certified to 200' in D11 and D13 climber trainer and rescuer, only 200' because we don't have anything taller.

Cool video of the Coast Guards tallest LORAN tower being destroyed. Video is from 6 different angles so watch the 3 minutes. At the time it was the tallest in the Coast Guard towering over 1350 feet.
