Shell (topper) question

Has anyone cut the flap on the tailgate flush with the top of the tailgate, mine hangs down a little more than i'd like.

Is it a hard piece or a rubber gasket like thing.
My Snugtop I had on my 1999 had a rubber piece that I turned over in the track it ran in for a cleaner look. Can't tell what yours looks like up close.

 

If you cut it, you run the risk of water getting into the bed. The flap keeps the water out

 

It's hard plastic, with a rubber flap that's a little shorter behind it.

 

Yes ... Over the years some folks have trimmed or cut away that flap for the sake of looks. The trick is not going so far as to hurt its ability to keep out water and dust.

 

never had a camper that kept water tight after wheeling...always drips somewheres
