Lost 1" of height when I put on new wheels.

Alright so here is the deal I recently installed Pro Comp 1079's(17 x 9) on my 06 AC SWB. They look great but the only problem is that after measuring the height of my truck I lost an inch all around. I am running 265/70/17 nitto terra grappler a/t and have billies all the way around,the front set at 1.75". The truck still sits perfectly level. I understand why I lost the inch, because the wheels are wider than the stock sport rims. It has been driving me crazy so much so that less than 48 hours after the install I ordered new wheels. FJ SE's to get my self back to stock height. Will these take my truck back to where it was before if I mount some 265/75/16? Or could I just put some 285's on the Pro Comps and get that height back. I understand the 285's may not be a possibility without alot of trimming. Here are some pictures of the truck before and after. Just looking for some input as if to anyone else has expierienced this and what they did. sorry for the rant

After still looks good to me.

 

The sidewall of the tire is streached wider to reach the rim edge.
This takes away heigth of the sidewall.

 

Now, thats just weird. "Who lowered his billies???"

 

Stupid question probably, but have you double checked PSI on both sets? Possibly you were heavy in the first set and lite in the new ones?

so the stock tire is a 265/65/17 about a 31 in tire
an 285/70/17 are 33s
so just the 65 to 70 is the 2 inches,learn somethin every day

 

If anyone can GET the SE wheels

 

I have been running these tires for almost 7k miles(just on sport rims), all I did was get new wheels. Right before I took it in I went around and measured and recorded everything for afterwards because I figured that it would drop it but a whole inch blew my mind. I do not know the exact width of the stock sport rim but I figured it was about 7.5-8???. It has been really bothering me and I dont think that it looks good at all. The reason I suggested getting a 285(I know thats the width) is because I figured that the wider tire would give me some of the height back like oh-man was saying.

I didnt know for sure I was just throwing around some ideas. Oh and by the way the FJ SE's fell through as I kinda thought they would so now I am looking for an alternative wheel. I was thinking something that is 17x8 so I dont have to get new tires,and I can just run the 265/70/17's I already have. I was looking at the Pro Comp 7089's. The only reason I am sketchy of them is because the 1079's are not balanced properly and the alignment shop told me it was because the wheel does not have an outer lip for them to put weight on and this really bothers me because of the shake in the steering wheel. Is my alignment shop full of it. If I took them to the stealership could they do it? Im just trying to figure this out before I go out and buy another set of wheels and end up with the same wheel shake that I have now. Thanks for all the replies sorry that I confused some people.

 

For him to lose an inch in height the tires would have to be 2" smaller in diameter. Somethings not adding up.

 

Maybe if his tire pressure is way low...

 

I am measuring from the center of the bottom of tire(where it meets the ground) to the right where the fender flare starts. My thinking is though it doesnt really matter where I measure from as long as I measure from the same spot everytime, or is that wrong? In the front I measure from the ground to the top of the bottom grill.
