Getting Adhesive off the body?

I had a decal on here, and it was fading so i decided to take it off...

Only to find this after my attempts of removal. I managed to get most of it off with car soap and a good scrub and now im left with that.



Sorry for the terrible circle i made trying to highlight it. I really hate using GIMP under Ubuntu lol...

 

try some goo gone.

 

Bug and Tar remover from an auto parts store.

 

bug and tar remover worked for me when i took off the dealers sticker and the undercover sticker on my tonneua

 

heat gun or hairdryer, just enough to loosen the adhesive, dont let the clearcoat melt

 

WD40 on a rag to get the adhesive off, it works like magic, then Windex or just plain soap and water to get the WD40 off.

 

Goo Gone is great. You will probably want to wax the area that you cleaned up because most anything that will remove adhesive will also remove the wax in that area.

 

3M adhesive remover has always been my 1st choice since taking off a body stripe off my '94 .... goo gone, WD-40 ..... they all work well.

 

This worked well for me.

 

BUT... DO NOT USE PAPERTOWELS! Use a micro fiber cloth with goo gone or wd 40 or gasoline or whatever you choose, but NEVER paper towels.

when I debadged my truck i started using a papertowel and goo gone and it scratched the paint. even after countless waxing you can still see where i F-ed it up.

 

use some compound to erase those micro scratches...
