I made these plans for a headache rack/light bar I plan on making soon in welding class. They are just a rough idea, if you guys have any ideas of something I should add on please throw them out there! Thanks!

The first one is just metal plates welded in place across the top that I was thinking of writing that in on.

Thats why I designed it. I can't find any good racks that look good with my truck. I like protech but they seem kinda plain. Maybe I could build and sell these..... hmm

Looks like a pretty good design, I like the light placement. I had a headache rack installed recently (the link above) and the visibility through the mesh is much better than I expected, even with the line-ex on the mesh, so I'm not sure you need the unmeshed middle section in your design (if it's purpose is to increase visibility). It you're going for functionality, full mesh coverage would be better IMO. A full mesh coverage that was removable would really be the ticket for versatility. Toward the bottom of this page is a pic of clamp on mesh

    http://www.rackitinc.com/accessories.html

If your mesh ends up being permanent, make sure their is room to get a squeegee in for cleaning the rear window.

Also from a functionality standpoint, I think some sort of bracing to increase rigidity would be helpful. Sounds like a fun project, keep us updated.

Make the lightbar aimable/adjustable, that would be sick. And mesh through it is kinda billy IMO, but it's your deal.

I made a custom headache rack for mine and im about to remount it and will post pictures if you still wanna see some ideas out there. Mine was built for my First gen but you can easily fit it to a second if you make it. Im also gonna add four Hella 500 series lights on the top of the rack as well. I will post pics on my build as soon as i get it done.
