Total Chaos LCA Skid-plate: how-to install

Got these along with my mid travel today, and this is the easiest install ever. I bought these for a little extra protection, plus they give that boxed look a little bit and IMO looks better. Im not sure why these arnt so popular on the forum, Ive only seen one other person with them so I wanted to try them out.

review the instructions and make sure you ha've all your parts

Materials:
Total Chaos Skid plates
Drill with a 3/8ths bit
14mm wrench

Note- all nuts provided are ny-locks so tons of torque isnt necessary but these are beefy bolts so its not like you are going to strip anything. I tightened as tight as I could with an 6 inch wrench

1. Remove your front tires. I would recommend removing the shock its easier, but i did it the first time with it on so it is possible.



2. Locate the 3 holes that will be used to attach the skid plate



3. Find the one closest to the lower ball joint, the furthest away from the engine and enlarge the small hole to 3/8ths using the drill bit

4. Examine the 3 different sized bolts. The smallest goes nearest to the ball joint, the medium goes toward the front of the cab and the long one goes to the rear of the cab. There are also 2 different sized nuts, the smallest goes with the short bolt.




5. Start with the hole closest to the rear of the cab, hold the skid plate up and insert the long carriage bolt into the skid plate and through the lower control arm. Use a washer provided and one of the large nuts to secure it in place.



6. Next go to the hole that you have drilled out. Install the short bolt the same way as the first one, but if you are 4x4 make sure you are careful around your cv boots.



7. Install the remaining bolt toward the front of the cab. Use the medium bolt along with a washer and nut and firmly tighten.




Now you are done, good work. High five.

I got them. Very easy to install, I just had to grind the back edge a bit cause my tire was rubbing them.

JW what constitutes a truck to be considered mid-travel?

and to maybe answer your question as to why they arent popular: 125 for these is kinda steep

Is TC the only company that makes a LCA skid?

 

Well its not really midtravel, but its close. Also its easier to say midtravel then coilovers and UCAS.

 

So what is mid travel?

 

Oh Im not saying it is or isnt lol im just curious what the answer was, I have no freaking clue lol

 

in between stock travel and long travel. Long travel has extended "long arms" so midtravel has extended travel but still same arms. Im assuming.
