Going full retard on sound deadening

So I am going to sound deaden my truck full retard style and buy my product from sound deadener showdown. How many tiles do I need? How much 1/8" foam? How much 1/4" foam? How much MLV? How much adhesive? How many velcro pads? I intend to put the velcor on a sandwich of closed cell foam and MLV. It will attach to the CCF and the tiles on the other.

I have a DC and will do MLV on all 4 doors, floor, and back. Roof gets tiles and foam only.

What do I need to order?

I am kind of concerned the tiles are too rigid to for to the inner door metal. A valid concern? Sould I get regular damplifier for the inner door metal to form better and for the floor to save money? How many tiles could I eliminate if I did the floor and inner doors in regular damplifier?

Anyone know of a cheap source for mass loaded vinyl in Houston so I can nsave shipping costs?

Best thing to do is just e-mail Don at SDS. He'll work with you to come up with something that works for you. I'm doing pretty much the same as you, except there will only be tiles on the roof, and it came out to around $650 shipped. Don recommended 1/4" foam for the doors and floor, 1/8" at the back of the cab. Don said that foam and MLV in the roof wasn't really necessary, but if you want more thermal insulation then you could put foam up there. I'm guessing 1/4" is what you'll put on the roof.

I did the same you are about to do. I have a thread in the A/V section, as well as many others. While your at it get a hold of ItalynStylion, he is a sound guru.

 

Take some measurements man. You gotta measure the doors surface area, the floor, and the rear wall.

I'll go ahead and tell you that I got 50sqft of MLV and it was the PERFECT amount. I don't think I wasted anything larger than a 2x2ft sheet. So I'd get that much MLV and then that much foam. The 1/8" is what you need for the doors and 1/4 will work for everywhere else. It's a tight fit for the rear walls but I have faith in you.

Do you NEED the 1/4" foam? I measured before the post and got 52 feet of MLV and 72 feet of area for the tiles and foam... but I know I dont need the full 72 square feet of tiles as that woul be like 150 tiles... way too much. I dont know what ACTUALLY gets used. Measuring is not helping for tiles. Nice to know I was on point for MLV.

I don't know why you'd be getting more foam than MLV but I suppose it is useful in other areas. I don't know that you'll need an extra 20sqft unless you plan to do the roof or something.

CLD tiles only belong in the doors, rear wall, and ceiling. Those are the only points that I deemed necessary because of resonance issues. Most of the metal in the floor is corrugated and is quite rigid.
