How to get rid of this?

I just noticed this mark on my truck. What is the best way to get rid of it?

 

Buffer and clay.

Color sanding I looks like the paint is etched from bird shit you got to get that shit off ASAP when is happens or the acid will eat your paint.


If it's not all the way down to the base you can color sand it and buff it back if it's into the base your SOL unless you get it re painted.

 

Yeah whats up with the clear on these trucks, i never had bird shit eat through so fast as it has on this one? Its really only one little spot on my truck but never had this happen on any other vehicle.

 

ketchup...lots of it..thats the only way to get that out

 

Just make sure you have a good coat of wax to protect the paint and get it off ASAP i keep a microfiber towel in the truck just for bird shit. I live in the bay and there is tons of fucking seagulls.

A little water and a towel will get it off if it's fresh. Just don't leave it on the paint to long bird shit is nasty stuff on paint.

Yeah all I can say is get that shit off fast I have seen bird shit etch paint in less then 24 hours. It really depends on what the birds are eating sometime it's not that bad but I treat every one as if it was acid in my paint.

 

No chance, wet sand and polished out if your lucky. I agree with Jlee's comments.

 

I agree with JLee also but try the simple fix before you go wet sanding and polishing your truck. No offense to the OP but a lot of people don't really know what they're doing with paint and wet sanding and you can ruin a paint job very easily if you do it incorrectly. I'd start simple and, if that doesn't work, or work well enough, then go more evasive from there. The simple fix may cover it up enough where you can live with it.

 

Very true If you have never wet sanded before go to a detail shop and have a pro do it.

 

I dont really want to take the risk doing it myself. Do you know any good places in the bay area?

 

x2 I've got a junk panel that i've practiced on and still wouldn't attempt it on my truck, that is a job for a professional. I should have been clearer on my first post.

 

It's not just taco's... Toyota's in general (in the past couple years) are REALLY cheap on clear. Of all the cars that come into my shop, my employees have the most issues with Toyota's, as they don't use much clear anymore, and they burn-through the clear daily.

To the OP, it looks like you've got some bird-crap damage amongst a ton of stone chips. Given the condition of the hood, I'd just get it re-sprayed. It's just a matter of time until it all starts to rust, and for a couple hundred bucks, the painted hood will do you some good. Plus, most shops use 2 coats of clear, so you'll have more clear to work with in the future, v.s. your stock clear.
