FYI: It doesn't matter if it's a 2 or 4 stroke, the term "thumper" just means it's a single cylinder.

Sir, I respectfully disagree, but entitle you to your own opinion.

I got an 04 Honda cr250 for sale 2000$. It's a two stroke but has a very mild broad power band that makes it easy to manage and predictable. My previous was a 97 cr250 and it had a massive low end hit that would launch you out of a tight 2nd gear rut like a catapult (fun and intoxicatingly snappy, but not the best for good lap times).

I agree with that, but also a big part of that was advancement of technology with four strokes every year, and cheaper. Got lighter and created more power per pound of weight. Eventually it caught up to the two strokes and surpassed.
This is why they only use 4 strokes vs 2 strokes in supercross/motocross racing.....if the 2 stroke made more power, they would use that. And it would have nothing to do with emissions. No emission regulation in racing, or at least I don't think they have that in dirtbike racing.

Granted the 2 stroke is still lighter than 4 stroke, but the 4's power and torque curve is just so much better at the rear wheel.
And it's better on gas and no more mixing! win win if you ask me!
