It is fairly fun to shoot, IMO, but i'm not sure I would be buying one for my self. A good friend of mine bought one last month. The first time we took it out to the range, there was 6 FTF's from the first two mags alone. The firing pin had failed to hit the casing. Not what you're looking for in a brand new gun.

Just so you guys know the ATF recently stated that the fake suppressors on the GSG5s violate NFA regs and need to be replaced. I have no idea what the new shrouds look like but I'm guessing they're going to look ridiculously awful. ATI now has to make generic looking mp5s b/c of the lawsuit by HK. They also look hideous. It's a shame cuz they were great plinkers.

The BATFE is an arm of the IRS which is an unratified abomination itself. Both have to go.

I doubt anybody is going to say anything to you. It's just a technicality that the ATF pulled out of their ass to make life harder still for law abiding gun owners. However, since they say it violates NFA then I would get whatever replacement ATI has to offer if you go to a public range or something. If you shoot it on private property with no one else around then its up to you. However, selling it you would def need the replacement shroud.

BTW, I bought a GSG-5 (not the 522) about 2 weeks ago. I shot it at my parents house, ran 90 rounds through it and it worked pretty good. Took it to a 50 yard range this week and put another 220 rounds through it. In all, I have had 3 misfires. To me, that is just the way it is with cheap rimfire ammo. All 3 had pin marks on them, so I figure it was an ammo issue.

I really like the rifle so far. Fun to plink and is pretty consistent. I'd like to put a red dot on it, if anyone has one for cheap.

I like mine. I bought an extra magazine but it's garbage, I think there's something wrong with the spring in it.

Either way gun is a lot of fun.

For tacticool value and fun factor I decided on an S&W M&P 15/22. You can use all the furniture from the real AR's and have a nice plinker. Even got a cheapo red-dot ($100) that works great.

I love my GSG-5 (not the 522). It has been very reliable and is accurate out to 50 yds. Not sure about farther, as I have never really shot it any farther.
