Kelly Blue Book.

Wow...Just checked the retail value on my truck, and Kelley says its still worth 25k retail. With a 20k trade. I only paid 21,500 for it last year with 39k on the ticker. Is Kelly that far off on the values?

Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value is representative of dealers' asking prices for a used car, and the starting point for negotiation between a consumer and a dealer. This Suggested Retail Value assumes that the vehicle has been fully reconditioned and has a clean title history, but has not been certified in accordance with any Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) program the automaker may offer (for which it may or may not qualify, according to factors such as vehicle age and mileage). This value also takes into account the dealers' profit, costs for advertising, sales commissions and other costs of doing business. The final sale price will likely be less depending on the vehicle's actual condition, popularity, type of warranty offered and local market conditions.

My 08 Still Blue Books for more than I paid for it off the showroom floor, however if I put mine in it only has yours by 3k and mine is an 08 with 18k miles on it......I'm sure sometimes the calculations are a little off.. I would like to hope these trucks keep this kind of value though! Finding someone desperate enough to part with one for cheap will always be the offset to a price suggestion on paper though.

 

Book value helps.
Reality is the area you live, what the market will bear, trading vs. private party.
I have always done really well selling outright a stock toyota truck.
Folks in my area are always looking for well cared for one owner Tacomas.
Pricing it so its close to new or kbb/nada retail more than likely will make it sit longer.
Dealers seem to get away with more than PP since they can play with numbers & take your trade easier.

Its a good feeling when its worth a lot more than you owe.
Its an awesome feeling when you don't owe anything.
