NOt sure how hard you wanna work at it....sounds like you want it to be perfect tho....so this might help:
Cause having a gun not easily accessed doesn't help anything. I have my pistol within about 10-15 steps from where I am at home...and I honestly feel kinda naked when I have to go out without it.

Nobody's going to catch me with my pants down in my own house, ever. Nobody's going to jack me on the road, around town, and certainly not in my own house. You know what I mean?

Wow. That sounds like a therapy issue to me.

At any rate, the 1st scratch is done with. Congratulations now you can relax. :) Like others said, go to the dealer for touchup.

What if they fly up onto the hood and dent the hood or they smash into the windshield and crack it?

    Too many variables...

That sucks dude. I know how it goes, though.

I had a 7" long gouge top to bottom from my open-carry with trijicon front sight.

I hopped online, ordered a can of spray touch-up with compatible primer, and then lightly sanded the whole driver's-side access cab door, sprayed the scratched area, feathered, dragged a razor blade across it, then re-cleared the whole door.

I let it sit over night and the next day everything looked great after clay bar and wax. 15 minutes after completing that, I went to climb in, and the belt clip of my Kershaw folder went right across everything I just repaired. FML, I guess. Waiting for it to warm up (over 70, the paint I had fell out of atomization in less than 65-70 degrees), and i'll do the whole thing all over again.

Total parts were $19 for the 8P1 paint, sand paper was $11, clear I had on-hand and shot in a booth with heat and down-draft, but out of the can isn't bad either. So, I guess, maybe $50 to do the whole thing. It'll even cover it twice, lol.
