the one you like the best, is the best... ARE, Leer and Snugtop all make nice, quality caps with different features and different models.

I wanted a cap in the worst way for my truck, I got it, then absolutley hated it!!. Everything I tried to haul wouldnt fit. Here I am a owner of a truck and I had to use my cousins F-150 to haul my new washer, refrig, then my sons Motorcycle. 3 different times

Hell, he kept busting my ass as to when I was going to buy a truck you can actually use. Its off now. I have a access cover.

i had an ARE, well i still have it in the garage, but it is a quality product. pretty much as nice as it's gonna get. just be sure that you know that your access to the bed and use of the bed is really limited. that's why i took it off.

my ARE is bombproof. helps to remember the opening's dimensions.; you will know if things fit or not.

buy/make some sawhorses..not a biggie to pop it on and off. i hunt alot. the closed and locked up back is worth the cost of admission to owning a cap.

OP, where are you from? There's a franchise called CapWorld along the east coast that might be able to help you out. Or, visit Leer and A.R.E.'s websites. There are pro's and con's to different window configurations, cap designs and options. Most of it is personal preference and usage requirements. Is there anything in particular you'll be using the cap for?

Michelin 265/75/16 MS2's, Grillcraft MX series/TOYOTA badging. FJ/SE TRD Anthracite gray wheels. Katzkin leather/heated seats.
    Personal taste,

I looked at LEER and ARE and ending up going with the ARE "Z" series. I liked the engineering design of the rear door latch and hidden hinge system. I have also owned previous ARE toppers and was happy.

I was also much more impressed with the local ARE dealer than I was with the local LEER dealer. At the end of the day the dealer is whom you will rely on for any issues.

So my advice pick a really good dealer that your happy with and that stands behind what his product.

Lots of great info on this fourm on caps, toppers if you use the search window above.:D

I have a Leer 100XQ and love it.

I looked at both ARE and LEER. Both had similar styles and pricing. I chose Leer because I liked the styling a little better than the ARE.

2 weeks ago I ordered an A.R.E MX series with the vented windoors. also had them install the tracks for the roof rack. I may buy the rack later. I chose the MX to gain some usefulness out of the bed space. Also I wont have to stoop so low when I am in it. And yes the dealer makes a big difference, I am happy that I delt with the ARE dealer.

after i struggle with brand (leaning to Leer) and window choice, is carpet a big deal if i end up camping out of it? will carpet combat condensation, help insulate, both? or is it just for sound attenuation?

    thanks

ps: nice truck 4x4NC; thanks for the pictures

Mine came with a Leer on it. It was pretty nice, but they're not my style so I sold it.

I have a Leer XR. No complaints, all the hardware works, the paint match is pretty much perfect and it keeps shit dry.
