Vinyl Stickers

I am inquiring to a company called Sticker City about possibly doing a matte tan on my truck. Similar color to what the military vehicles have. Has anybody dealt with this type of application or seen it in person? I have never seen one in person and do not know how this stuff holds up in harsh climates/enviroments (ie: Death Valley, Alaska). Or should I just stick with traditional paint?

You can't go wrong with traditional paint.

It's one thing if you want to do some two-tone color using vinyl, but to do the entire truck with it - there's more room for error in the application and more room for it to fail (so to speak). There's sooo many different types of vinyl that are specific for different types of applications. Hopefully, you'll get the RIGHT stuff and get it installed properly.

What happens if you get a scratch in it? Repairing vinyl isn't like adding touchup paint.

How does it stay 'shiney & clean'? What types of cleaners and/or waxes are you allowed to use on it? AFterall, it is vinyl and chemicals could penetrate it and make it fade or bubble up ...there may be specifics on things you're allow to use on it.

 

How about mud? Lots andf lots of MUD.

 

Mud gets into everything and eventually wears things out. It's fun for the hour of playing in it. I do want to change the color eventually. I will probably go the paint route.

 

your truck would look SICK with their military green color, or it looks better than the military tan IMO

 

The vinyl is harder toscratch, plus if you ever sell your truck you could take the vinyl wrap off and your paintjob will look brand new. Read up on it on google.

 

Do you realize how hard it'll be to get that stuff off? It's a pain in the ass getting even the smallest vinyl stickers off .... but to remove it from an entire truck? Have fun with that....

 

Have you ever taken vinyl stuff off vehicles? My husband cuts vinyle stickers and has done his share of removal. It's not fun. And to do an entire vehicle.... definately not fun.

 

I have had my vinyl on my fenders for a year now and it has held up well.

My friend did it for me who wraps race cars.

He is one of his clients.

 

im a beetle fan. what i would do for that car

yeah it dosnt seem too hard because its BIG pieces of vinyl. so you caould grab and pull it away rather than picking at it like a small decal.

Im going to vinyl my truck if i start racing it to preserve the paint and change up the color every other year or so. It's pretty big on import forums because it protects the paint and looks really good

 

I may just end up doing this, but it needs to be in a desert tan color. I want to add in various little details like a serial number on the tailgate and hood (or side) and maybe a star on the door. The Line-X type stuff doesnt sound like a bad idea but just alot of work to get it done right.

 

Desert tan would look sick. Maybe when the truck is paid off and it is more of a trail rig I will probably do this.
