I've been looking into putting a roof rack on my 2009 Timberland Mica DC and was wondering which would you recommend? Im just getting it for looks, not for any sort of use.

I have a Thule with a fairing and like & use the rack a lot. Been on the truck since 2007. You will lose some mpgs.

The factory rack has the crossbars that fold in when you want. Not sure if people leave them out all the time or not. But the factory one is cleaner & give the option of bars in.

Not sure what look you want, bars in or bars out.

What mpgs do you get with the rack?

I have the OEM roof rack. I like how it looks just that...factory and clean. I normally leave the bars folded in because it is quite noisy when they are out. Haven't really noticed any difference in MPG... haven't been paying attention.

I am about to pull the trigger on a Thule system. I am doing it for functionality though. If you are getting it for looks you should ask yourself what looks better to you? I think they all great looking racks. The stow away of the OEM is nice.

    Stock. Purchased 2/17/19. Cement!
Factory Rack with crossbars out all the time because of my inno bike carrier. I love it. I used to have a Yakima rack on all my previous cars. In every vehicle, I've made some sort of scratch taking it on and off among other stupid things. This one is solid and wouldn't consider changing it out. Good luck. If you are doing it for looks, that's gonna be expensive. Pick up a hobby! :D

I average around 15-17 all the time mixed city/hwy
I never see 20 like others do. My truck is 4WD & auto which is suppose to get better mileage. :notsure:
Used to track my mileage with my scangauge, but honestly do not pay that much attention to it anymore. But would think if the factory bars fold in when not in use that helps prevent drag. I could be wrong.
Either way, I like the thule & have had them on all my toyota trucks.
