I have read on this forum that the hilux is research by amrican people because of his 3.0 d4d motor. In my country there are only hilux, tacoma is only for people who import... my friend have a tacoma and i will have one coming soon. The rumor say the 3.0d4d have more torque, it's wrong 343nm vs 379nm for the tacoma, and the hilux is more cheaper because it's made in thailand and have little opitons compared to the tacoma

Yes diesel have always more torque but compare to the 4.0 v6 of tacoma it's less. Ilive in tahiti and there are two choice of diesel the 3.0d4d and a 2.5 d4d (120hp; 320nm) for me the hilux look is too bad and felt simple compared to the style of tacoma, and the reason I have choose a access cab tacoma to a hilux extra cab is because the rear doors, hilux can't open...

Cool, Tahiti, I bet it's a lot warmer there than it is where I am at, currently it's snowing, blowing, and about 32. I think it's a good choice to get the Tacoma, opening the rear doors is a great accessory/option. I may be stepping on the line, but I would guess that 90% of all the people on TW really require function, be it good fuel mileage, great offroad performance, start everyday-do your job, and Toyota; really does this well. Good luck in your purchase, Drive on. :)

I guess the grass is always greener on the other side... We want the Hilux and can't get it, you want the Tacoma but it's harder to get.

I want the diesel because of longevity, great power and towing capacities and impressive fuel economy, especially for a truck.

I'll check on my walk home, it looks like a 60 Series. There's an old FJ40 floating around also, not in great condition but still running like a champ!
