Criminals love gun free zones that means when its time to rob shoot and kill someone they know they don't have to worry about getting shot pretty sweet deal if you ask me.

You Guys both have great points of view. To disagree is what this country is all about. I have to admit In many cases I don't respect the Cop how ever I will bit my tongue and respect his Badge and Gun. The Gun does not make the man. Best of luck to every one who has responded to this thread. Al we can do is hope that we will never need to PULL THE TRIGGER!!!!

Mwells, maybe you were the buttoned down straight A student in college. I know damned well I wasn't..
Some of the things I did as a freshman would have been well included in Animal House, and while they make good stories, in retrospect I'm glad I didn't have a gun. So I tend to think of college students in that regard. And please note there are very few posts in the thread that are actually opposed to it.

Being a future CCW permit holder and VT cadet, I can see the points made for concealed carry, but I also think that the few individuals that aren't mature enough to uphold their inherent responsibilities are liable to cause a situation that ruins it for the rest of us. like its been said before, alcohol, stress, testosterone, and guns don't mix too well.

wait a second...Virginia is legal to carry to college!!!

    http://opencarry.org/college.html

granted it might be against the rules of the school....so carrying concealed needs to be done discretely...something like a smart carry

    your life>violating some rule

I'm for CW on campus, but there would be some strict rules and requirements.

I'm also for 18-20 having a CHL under one condition, they must be a combat VET.

    Concealed Handgun License.

Sorry, maybe that's just a Texas acronym.

When I was in high school a student decided to bring a pistol to school, take it out during lunch, and shoot himself all due to a breakup with a gf. Therefore, I do not agree students should be allowed to CC, not in a learning environment at least. Perhaps amp up the security.

My highlighting indicates a large problem. The legal age to purchase a firearm is 21. No one here to my knowledge is advocating firearms on high school campuses - for one main reason: emotional volatility. 21 was chosen as a great age for gun ownership, because of increased maturity and more mental stability than when children are adapting to their puberty/hormones.

21 is the minimum age I would consider for CPL/CHL/CCW - and combat vets if they can pass mental qualifications (all would be tested for mental stability)

There are no viable arguments against concealed carry on campus by lawful citizens. It is not the lawful gun carrying members we should be worried about - it's those who break the law we should be concerned about.

That high school broke the law and he was clearly a danger to himself and others. Lawful gun owners are more responsible in gun ownership and handling strategies, especially Concealed Pistol Licensees. Why CPL holders are particularly responsible:
    1) Fingerprints/personal info on file w/ Law Enforcement Agencies
    2) Reflect the behavior of gun owners everywhere - if we draw our weapon at any situation except a life-or-death situation would reflect poorly on ourselves and likewise other gun owners [thereby restricting legal access to guns among other consequences]
    3) We value our lives as we value others' right to life and liberty, therefore we will not impinge the right to life of others without tremendous cause, nor do we want our right to life or liberty impinged by outlaws or gun-control activists.

guns are allowed on high school campuses(as long as the state doesnt have a law against it)...for example Alabama issues permits to 18 year olds...so if you were a high school student with an Alabama permit it would be legal to carry to class...

Is it not more unfair that they can't fight just because they are disabled?

If that was pointed at me, the point would be someone between 18-20 would not be able to carry unless they were a combat vet. The concept is, they have probably seen death in some form or another. They understand, maybe even better than most adults, the responsibility they are carrying.
