wouldnt that be a short ram intake? Cold air normally means that it is pulling air from outside the engine bay, at least it did before?

Looks good tho. next mod incoming!

You do gain horsepower, because i can tell the different before and after the installation, even my friend he drive my tacoma, he ask me what did you do to your taco, he feel much powerful than his tacoma. The gas milage also gain more out from the tank.

enjoy the sound and additional horsepower.

your ass is not a suitable dynamometer. I feel they do nothing... does my ass not count? on many, if not most, efi vehicles they will kill you until you get a tune, and last I checked you have to get a whole new fms to do any real tuning on this thing.

Its nothing without numbers and the percentages you're playing with are beyond testable outside of a lab.. so it doesn't matter even if it is 5 hp. You're not going to tell me you can feel.. a less than 2% difference? There's more than that based on weight of a full tank vs 3/4 tank or a rainy day vs a sunny day.

    OP, have fun.

I'd be curious to see someone make a laminar flow intake. Those conical sections seem disruptive to air flow. Not that it makes much of a difference, but it would be a gimmick to sell late at night next to the filter chargers and tornado air devices.

When I got my CAI i made sure that it was a CAI, mine has a fully enclosed box with a lid, and goes straight to the grill bringing in the air coming in....ill get some pics tomorrow of mine.

I love the way mine sounds...cant tell in hp gain, when i lay it to the floor it sounds good but definately not going any faster. As far as mpg gains I can honestly say it increased...not a whole hell of a lot but definately a little bit 1-2 mpg.

i've learned over the years of tweaking cars (except for my Z06) unless you actually tune your car/truck, a CAI does nothing but sound cool, that's why i just went with a drop in filter since the tacoma setup is basically already a CAI without the noise

Idk, I have my ultra guage showing my intake temp. And the temp never got higher than normal after the intake install. And I got 1 more MPG.

so youre telling me you felt the at most 3% HP increase from the intake...

i take very detailed records of my MPGs and i can tell you that i lost a bit running both the TRD and URD intakes. the month or so that i ran the OEM intake between going from the TRD to the URD i saw a spike, as well as i trended a drop after each intake was installed.

glad your pumped OP, as thats all that matters, but as others have stated, you now have a warm air intake on your truck!

doesnt a cold air usually run more further away from the engine. Seems as if this intake would just suck in the warm air of the engine. Looks tight though

Ya I have ran these kind of intakes on all my vehicles and it makes the truck sound like a beast! Wich is what I want. If you go to afe website, they do a dyno test after the intake install ( same as mine) and it shows a HP increase. But I Care less. The sound is what I like and I can't feel a difference In power but the roar of my engine gets a smile on
My face every time. The girls like it " it sounds like a race car" is the first thing my girl said haha. All and all I'm more than happy with it. I kind of felt like something was missing without it, and for the enthusiast, I think it's what you need!!!

And if you think about it, with an intake, your engine is sucking in 3X more air than Normal witch equals more power weather it be hot or cold. The "cold" air is not so much as big of factor as sucking in air. Just asked a buddy of mine who races rally so maybe he knows a little more about it than I do!
