So im searching through the intarwebs and decided to look up on pioneer's site about a firmware update to my HU

so i thought i would search through there to see if they had any updates to the maps on the gps function because theres portions of road i drive on everyday that the gps goes crazy cause the roads have changed

i find in pioneer's site the map updates for their systems...they want 120$ for the U.S. & Canada map!

so my question is, does anybody have the update and are willing to let me borrow the disc that pioneer sends?

maybe we can all create a pot that everyone puts money in and we can pass the cd/sd card around...lol...sounds dirty

First month of ownership... This month I'm removing front air dam, and also Rhino lining the bed.
    A call for sanity-

I assume you all know this is illegal, unethical, and certainly unwise to publicly boast your intentions for wantonly violating US Copyright Laws

Since Pioneer and other GPS makers are for-profit businesses that rely on selling these updates to offset the cost of making them available to you this type of activity undermines the long term viability of that business model, requiring them to add DRM controls and/or simply make us buy a whole new unit every time we want updated software.

If you wanted free lifetime updates then why not buy a unit that offers them? Sure, they cost more upfront but then you save on the back end.

TomTom for example has a lively user community with free updates available.

OK, anyway I've said what I needed to here. Everyone has to make their own choices I guess. Carry on then.

first pioneer gives you a separate code for the specific update on those models. i have a 700bt. second you can go to www.avec411.com for your answer. i still havent updated my maps and i had some issues with it beforehand before i was able to fix it and it wasnt even modified. and yea. i didnt even want to pay the 120...hell i didnt even want to pay the update when they had it on sale for 70 at one point.

nothing illegal about this as long as your not making copies. you can buy a DVD and watch it once and give it to a friend. you can buy a game and give it to a friend. the company might not like it. but there is nothing they can do about it. once you buy it, it is your property and can do with it what you want.
