Got my new-to-me taillights today

I posted this to show what they look like, not to hear what all you guys have to say about how they're illegal and too dark. I didn't realize how many haters there was on this forum. Jeesh.

i did mine about 3 months ago, it looks really good. IMO, you should paint the 3rd brakelight as well. just my .02 cents

 

I was planning on getting one of those sockmonkey 3rd light decal things when I order my bedsides here in a few weeks

 

you should get a black decal, and paint the 3rd light black as well, so it only shows up when your on the brakes

or rear ended, or side swiped. no offense meant here so dont think im tryin to be a old fuddy duddy dickhead who likes to judge folks, but theres a place where form should take a back seat to function. this looks cool but works dumb.

That would be the least of your worries.

Personally I know how I would feel if a soccer Mom and her kids were killed because they couldn't see my brake lights.

Lawsuit, death, insurance issues, your medical coverage if you have any telling you you're SOL and having you pay for their medical bills and or funeral etc.

But hey they look niffty!!

thats the direction i was goin in but was tryin to keep myself toned down some. ive been behind these blacked out lights and its created some 'moments', if ya know what i mean, and im a fairly skilled driver. betty and the kids may not be so lucky. the all white lighted tails so popular with the import crowd are not much better. sorry this has turned into a beat down thread but if we didnt love ya, we wouldnt say anything.

 

I thought about all that, but the light shows well through them and I just bought em cause they were cheal. I plan on getting some that are clear with the black housing. I also plan on putting a led brake light strip on the back too.

 

cool. just be careful man. i dont think theyre as bright as ya wanna believe they are. ya know how we get pumped about new toys and convince ourselves theyre the shiz to justify the cost or look? its human nature. get a pal to drive yer truck so you can follow behind. check em in daylight and at night in town. i think youll see what we mean.

 

My tails are just as dark.

I got pulled after about a year with them on. I was originally pulled for window tint, so if I didn't have window tint, I would have never gotten pulled.

I was behind a Civic this morning with black taillights and white bulbs, now that was sketchy. I don't think mine are too bad but if someone says anything I'll go with something else. Like Cactus said, I'm excited about having them so I'm not seeing what the big problem is. To each his own I guess. On the flipside, a group of guys were circling my truck today when I came out, they said it was one of the coolest tacos they've seen.
