First month of ownership... This month I'm removing front air dam, and also Rhino lining the bed.
Hey don't go and kill yourself Chris.

My advise is to have someone else shoot it first.. head out to a shooting area and find some macho knows everything guy and say, "hey there buddy - how'd you like to be the 1st person to fire this thing.." Watch what he does and if it fires reasonably well repeat steps observed. If gun blows up in his face well, guess that is the end of it. OK, so maybe it's not a well thought through plan - just be careful buddy.

Thanks Dwight! I think I'll be fine. First shot, Im just gonna load 1 chamber. I think the chamber only can hold 30 grains of Black Powder, so I dont see the preassurre being able to get to extremes. I will have a gun smith check it out before hand though :)

Don't bring it to a gun fight with anybody from the 20th or 21st Century. You will be seriously out gunned.

The reason for putting grease on the bullet end of the cylinder is NOT to keep water or dirt out, it is used as a lubricant to help prevent leading, and more importantly, to prevent a chain fire. Chain fire occurs when one or more chambers of the revolver fire when the intended chamber is fired. The grease prevents hot sparks from igniting the powder in the other chambers. I have read that some don't bother with the grease as they use lubed wadding between the powder and bullet. Some have stated that they don't use either and have not had a chain fire. The reason for this claim is that the bullet fits tight in the chamber since a small amount of lead is shaved when seating the bullet. I wouldn't count on that. I would still seal the end of the chamber with grease.

Good advice above. Black Powder is very corrosive. If you leave it for a little while you will probably be ok but not days. Cleaning carefully everywhere exposed to the powder charge is very important.

    Nice piece. I want one!
