Story about two Fords vs. '85 Toyota in snow

So yesterday when we went shooting, we took my friends Ford Expedition. When we got to the trail, it was not plowed at all and had ~2ft of snow with only one or two sets of tracks in it.

We wanted to go far down the trail to get to one of our favorite two shooting spots. However we got about 1/3 of the way before the Expedition got stuck. With me guiding him, he got out. We reversed all the way back out of the trail. Then we waited for our friend in the F-150 to show up. We crammed into his AC 150 and were on our way. We ended up stopping just before where the Expedition got stuck because of 'concern' for getting stuck - justified...

About 1.5 hours into our target shooting fun, a guy comes driving up and wants to pass us, but we are literally in the middle of the trail. One side is a ditch, the other is ~2.5-3ft deep of snow. He is in a 'seasoned' Toyota pickup that he modded to have a flatbed with a box in back. He looks at us (with our two Ford guys saying how they don't think moving our F-150 is realistic because we'd have to drive all the way back out or we might get stuck) and drives right around us through 3ft of snow without a second thought. He does it with such grace that we wered WOW'ed.

And then we shot down a 'Christmas tree' using buckshot

 

It's because Toyotas are better than Fords...

Not surprised- my old '84 used to be great in the snow. Could drive in snow up to the bumpers with very little difficulty. Oh- and I remember pulling out a few Fords back in the day!

 

Maybe the Toyota was set up better for snow than the other two vehicles?

 

..........at least this didn't happen. Don't take them to the beach. This guy had to back out too, just a different way.





It ended up taking 3 trucks to fetch this onto dry land....

 

The F-150 had studded snow tires while the Yota had ATs. The F-150 was substantially larger than the Yota.
